The Lovereading4Kids comment

In a nutshell: comics-inspired madcap adventure with the irrepressible Danny Dingle

Would-be inventor and comics-obsessive Danny Dingle and his best mate Percy McDuff are back in a raucous new adventure. It’s the holidays and after a series of accidents and mishaps caused by their inventions, Mum has had enough and decides that for the safety of the family, and the neighbourhood, Danny should go to summer camp. Danny decides this could be good, until he discovers that his least favourite person Gareth Trumpshaw is billeted in the same cabin. The stage is set for a summer holiday like no other! The action is non-stop and full of incidents that will have children laughing out loud. Packed with illustrations, this is part novel, part comic and all fun. ~ Andrea Reece

Children who enjoy Danny and Percy’s antics will also like the Compton Valance series by Matt Brown and Jonathan Meres’s World of Norm books.

A Piece of Passion from Cecilia Bennet at Sweet Cherry Publishing: Working in children's publishing as an acquiring editor, I am always looking for something that stands out from the crowd. The Danny Dingle series does just that with its all-singing, all-farting, larger-than-life characters and irreverent tone. It is a treat to work on books that are so genuinely funny and full of personality, which can be enjoyed by readers of all ages. The books’ universal appeal is something that is mentioned over and over in reviews, and it is one of the reasons they are so brilliant for engaging reluctant readers. Danny's witty, imaginative and relentlessly optimistic personality is infectious: you can't help but love him despite his many flaws.
This August we will be releasing The Jet of Justice, which is book three in the series. Here, Danny is up to his old tricks once more, creating mayhem with his wacky and ill-advised inventions. In a way, Danny reminds me of an updated Just William for a modern generation, and I hope that he will entertain children for generations to come in a similar way.
