In a nutshell: funny, exciting story with a bee’s eye view of the world

Tony de Saulles takes readers inside a bee hive in this funny, fascinating story. Melvin keeps bees on the roof of his tower block and his nickname at school is Bee Boy, not always meant kindly. After a particularly hard day at school something magical happens and he finds himself in the hive, a real bee boy. In this form he’s able to help his bees against a wasp attack, and even a death’s head hawkmoth. Can he convince their human adversaries though of just how wonderful and important bees are? The bee’s eye view of the world is fascinating and this slips in hundreds of facts about bees while also being a hugely entertaining story. De Saulles is best known as the Horrible Science illustrator and the book is full of his lively illustrations too. Bee-rilliant! ~ Andrea Reece

Bee Boy: Clash of the Killer Queens by Tony De Saulles

Half BEE. Half BOY. Melvin Meadly is . . . BEE BOY. As a bee, Mel is ready to defend his hive against all enemies taking on killer wasps, terrifying hawkmoths, and battling queen bees. But as a boy, has he got what it takes to protect his bees (and himself) against the greatest menace of all Nasty Norman Crudwell?
