The Lovereading4Kids comment

The Jennings books will be loved by all those fans of the Just William books and many others too. Full of humour and exciting adventures at school, boys in particular will love them.

What Ali Sparkes, author of Dark Summer and also the Shapeshifter series says of the title and its author:

ANTHONY BUCKERIDGE -
The Jennings books were serialized on the radio from the 1950s onwards. Anthony Buckeridge really knew how to write a brilliantly funny schoolboy story which could be read aloud. I loved all the Jennings books, about Jennings and his friend Darbisher, and their complicated and hilarious lives at Linbury Court Preparatory School. I read them aloud to our sons recently and they cracked up, just like I did.

Synopsis

Jennings Goes to School by Anthony Buckeridge

‘That shepherd’s pie we’ve just had was supersonic muck so it’s wizard, but this school jam’s ghastly so it’s ozard…being a new chap’s pretty ozard for a bit, but you’ll get used to it when you’ve been here as long as I have.’

When Jennings arrives at Linbury Court Preparatory School as a new boy, he soon discovers how much he has to learn, especially when the other boys seem to be talking in a different language!

About the Author

Anthony Buckeridge

A generation ago, Anthony Buckeridge was the equivalent of J K Rowling. His schoolboy hero, Jennings, was as much the talk of ten-year-olds as Harry Potter is now. Anthony Buckeridge was a headmaster and worked in the Fire Service during the war before becoming a full-time writer. ‘Jennings’ featured in stories he used to tell his pupils.

He was awarded the OBE in 2003, a year before his death.

You give me age appropriate ideas of books I can read and buy for the children and find out what other children their age think of them too.
