The Lovereading4Kids comment
Set on a ranch high up in the Rocky Mountains, the Mustang Mountain series tells the story of Becky who is sent up there from her city-home one holiday. She’s furious with her parents for dumping her but she soon finds that life on Mustang Mountain is anything but dull, and with new friends and horses galore she’s in her element.
There are so many pony-mad series around but some of them are distinctly dubious, with an uninspiring quality of writing as well as a notable lack of storyline. Then two brand new series emerge at once so we thought we should definitely tell you about them both. Thankfully, they are for different age groups, so for all those pony mad kids start them at 6 or 7 on Pippa Funnell’s Tilly’s Pony Tails and then progress them at 8 or 9+ on to the Mustang Mountain series.
Mustang Mountain: Wild Horse by Sharon Siamon
When Meg, Alison and Becky go on holiday to Wyoming, Meg and Becky are thrilled with the promise of riding wild horses. But Alison refuses to participate. It looks like their holiday is going to be a disaster. Then Alison discovers a wild horse that needs her help. As hope for the sick horse fades, she must conquer her anger.
