Synopsis

Bear's Golden Hearts by Gillian Shields

On a high, high shelf in the toyshop sits a little brown bear with a bag of golden hearts. He longs for the day that his special child will come into the shop and take him home but, sadly, that day never comes and so the shopkeeper gives him away free with another toy. Discarded in the gutter, the little brown bear begins his quest to find his perfect child. Will anyone love a little brown bear with golden hearts? A heart-warming story about friendship and belonging, illustrated by the award-winning Paul Howard.

About the Author

Gillian Shields

Gillian Shields was born and brought up in Yorkshire. As she grew up, she had two passions; books and theatre. Gillian’s love of books led her to read English at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. After university she studied acting in London, and then worked in a drama school for several years, becoming Vice-Principal.

Having children gave Gillian an excuse to carry on reading children’s books, as well as motivation to write them. She has a young son and a grown-up daughter, and is married to Brian, who works for the International Herald Tribune.
