The Lovereading comment:
An important thing for kids to learn from an early age is that being different is good and here in this wonderful story we see a pink cricket (who should of course be green) follow his dreams just as you should do even if your friends think you shouldn't - a joyous little treasure for the whole family to share. Stylish and affordable books for children and parents alike.
One of an initial series of 13 titles in a wonderful collection under the banner of The World of Happy, each one of them featuring playful, charming, quirky, joyous and heart-warming stories about positive and uplifting values: love, happiness, freedom, pleasure, being yourself and revelling in the wonders of what it means to be alive and all written and illustrated by Giles Andreae, the creator of Purple Ronnie.
Children will love the funky, colourful animals and funny stories about belching sharks, dancing hippos, knitting gorillas and drumming crickets. Adults will appreciate the sophistication, quirkiness and philosophical content. World of Happy delivers something emotionally rich and complex while being easily accessible to children.
The World of Happy books are a great value addition to any nursery bookshelf which kids will enjoy time and time again.
Synopsis
The Pink Cricket (World of Happy) by Giles AndreaeTwo things are true about crickets: they are green and they play the violin. So when one cricket said he was a drummer, all the other crickets laughed. He was also pink. 'Crickets can no more play the drum than fish can play football...pinky'! they jeered.
