Robert's new CHERUB book is called People's Republic. Here's a video of Robert visiting a school and talking about the book:
Robert Muchamore was born in Islington in 1972 and spent thirteen years working as a private investigator. He loves Arsenal and watching people fall down holes. He hates swimming and getting chased by cows. He was inspired to start writing by his nephews' complaints about the lack of anything for them to read! The CHERUB series has now sold over 3 million copies and been translated into 26 languages. For more information, go to www.muchamore.com.
INTRODUCING ROBERT MUCHAMORE
Questions & Answers
Who is your favourite author/illustrator?
For kids books I would have to say Rene Goscinny. I loved the Asterix books and
the Little Nicholas series when I was a kid and read each one over and over.
Do you like healthy or fast food? Do you like to cook?
I quite enjoy cooking a special meal or something like that, but everyday cooking is a chore. My taste in food is quite low brow. If I go to a swanky restaurant I often find myself looking at all the fancy stuff on the menu and wishing I could just get steak and chips or a baked potato.
Are you good at sport? Do you enjoy watching, playing, supporting?
I started regularly going to Highbury when I was a teenager and I’m still a big Arsenal fan, but when it comes to playing sport I’m completely useless. I was always the kid who got picked last.
What do you like to do on the weekend?
My ideal weekend is just pottering around the house, looking at the newspapers, reading books, watching movies and listening to music.
If you had one magical power, what would it be?
I’m not really into magic, but I’d quite like a big laser. I could carry it around bookshops and threaten to melt the heads of anyone who leaves the shop without buying a CHERUB book. It would also be handy for parking attendants.
WHAT IS CHERUB?
CHERUB is a branch of British Intelligence. Cherubs are trained professionals, aged between ten and seventeen. They live on CHERUB campus, a secret facility hidden in the English countryside. For official purposes, these children do not exist.
WHAT USE ARE KIDS?
Only CHERUB agents can unearth the truth. They’re trained professionals with one essential advantage: adults never suspect that children are spying on them.
WHO ARE THEY?
There are about 300 children, mostly orphans on the CHERUB campus all training to become CHERUB agents. They are ranked according to the colour of T shirts they wear on campus. Lauren and James are brother and sister and are two of the leading CHERUB agents and have recently been awarded the Black T shirt in recognition of outstanding achievement over a number of missions.
