The Lovereading4Kids comment
From the creators of the best-selling The Worst Princess comes another funny, appealing picture book. Our hero, Sir Lilypad, has big ambitions – he wants to save a princess, and if he grows a bit in the process, that’s only good. He’s teeny you see, even for a frog. When he finds the princess, he’s disappointed to discover that she doesn’t need a knight to save her, but cheers up when she recruits him into her band. Sir Lilypad is soon cutting the bullies down to size, and standing up for the (other) little guys! Anna Kemp’s rhyming text, with its positive message, is a hoot, and Sara Ogilvie’s illustrations, whether of frogs, a picnicking dragon, or gardening ogre, are delightful. A palpable hit! ~ Andrea Reece

Sir Lilypad by Anna Kemp
An enchanting follow-up to The Worst Princess, this sparky, funny picture book is another tale of triumph over adversity, as the miniscule amphibian tries his very best to achieve his dream of becoming a brave knight. Of course, he must rescue a damsel in distress to prove his worth, but has a spot of bother finding his princess... Enter Sue, our feisty heroine, whom we last saw getting muddy knees and battling baddies in The Worst Princess. Along with her tea-drinking dragon companion, they show Sir Lilypad that mind over matter is the way forward...
With a bouncing ryhming text and Sara Ogilvie’s vibrant illustrations, packed with lovely details and humorous touches, Sir Lilypad shows children the joy of celebrating your individuality and striving for your dreams, no matter what... and the value of friends who love you unconditionally.
