Best-selling Maggie Stiefvater is mesmerising in this gripping and touching tale of the mysterious and the supernatural. Blue doesn’t have the clairvoyant skills of her mother and her cronies, but she does have some special powers. One year, sitting with her mother as she watches the soon-to-be-dead walk past she sees one boy. Gansy. Who exactly is he and why does he appeal to Blue so much when he is one of the boys from the exclusive private school she so despises? Can Blue keep Gansy safe?

Synopsis
The Raven Boys by Maggie StiefvaterBlue has spent the majority of her sixteen years being told that if she kisses her true love, he will die.
When Blue meets Gansey's spirit on the corpse road she knows there is only one reason why - either he is her true love or she has killed him. Determined to find out the truth, Blue becomes involved with the Raven Boys, four boys from the local private school (lead by Gansey) who are on a quest to discover Glendower - a lost ancient Welsh King who is buried somewhere along the Virginia ley line. Whoever finds him will be granted a supernatural favour. Never before has Blue felt such magic around her. But is Gansey her true love? She can't imagine a time she would feel like that, and she is adamant not to be the reason for his death. Where will fate lead them.

About The Author
Maggie Stiefvater is a bestselling American author of young-adult/urban fantasy novels. Her debut novel, Lament: The Faerie Queen’s Deception, was published by Flux in 2008. She lives in rural Virginia, USA, with her husband and their two young children. As well as being an author, Maggie is an award-winning artist and plays several instruments including the Celtic harp, the piano and the bagpipes. Maggie says her greatest literary influences for Shiver were Crow Lake and The Time Traveler’s Wife “because they tell quiet, bittersweet love stories.”
Maggie Stiefvater on Maggie Stiefvater:
All of my life decisions have been based around my inability to be gainfully employed. Talking to yourself, staring into space and coming to work in your pyjamas are frowned upon when you're a waitress, calligraphy instructor or technical editor (all of which I've tried), but are highly prized traits in novelists, musicians and artists (I've made my living as one of these since I was 22).
I now live an eccentric life in the middle of nowhere, Virginia, with my charmingly straight-laced husband, two small kids, two neurotic dogs, one criminally insane cat and a 1973 Camaro named Loki. I'm an avid reader, an award-winning coloured pencil artist and play several musical instruments, including the Celtic harp, the piano and the bagpipes. I also make great cocktail party conversation.
