The Last Book Before Bedtime by Nicola O'Byrne

The Lovereading4Kids comment

It might be the most important story of the day, but in Nicola O’Byrne’s witty book the telling of the last book before bedtime is hijacked completely by the characters. The narrator wants to tell the story of the three little pigs, but has only just got the attention of the protagonists when Cinderella bursts onto the scene, insisting her story is best for bedtime. The pigs kindly agree to play the ugly sisters but things go awry again when instead of the Fairy Godmother, the Big Bad Wolf appears! Chaos ensues and the book is ripped apart, before the characters create a story they’re all happy with. Great fun for children and parents alike. A warning though – this definitely won’t be the last book of the day, you’ll have to read another! ~ Andrea Reece

The Last Book Before Bedtime by Nicola O'Byrne

A familiar fairy tale is turned topsy-turvy when Cinderella hijacks the story of The Three Little Pigs, then Little Red Riding Hood jumps in, adamant that her story is better because it's full of danger. And then the Big Bad Wolf turns up too! But disaster strikes! Uh-oh! What will they do? The reader is still awake and needs a story! The characters make up their own story, of course, and one with enough funniness, romance, danger AND cake (obviously) to keep everyone happy.

About the Author

When Nicola was 5 years old her parents banned Saturday morning television, and she has been drawing ever since. Nicola grew up in Singapore surrounded by the vibrant colours of the tropics and had not even heard of illustration as a career before she discovered the Illustration course at Edinburgh College of Art. Having graduated from ECA, Nicola has now completed a Masters in Printmaking from Camberwell College of Art, as well as pursuing a career in children's book illustration. She gets most of her ideas for children's books when she should be working on something else, and bases all of her characters on people she knows.
