The diminutive hero Tom Trueheart is back for a fabulously inventive new adventure. His important mission this time is to rescue his father from Jack, the notorious Giant-Killer. To do so, little Tom Trueheart must brave the dangerous and unknown territory of the Land of Myths and Legends, a wild country where all kinds of terrible things may happen. Tom is well-known for his bravery but will he be able to overcome some of the best-known mythological creatures including the Minotaur lurking in his labyrinth? Ian Beck makes a wonderful new story while playing delightfully with some old ones.

Praise for The Secret History of Tom Trueheart, Boy Adventurer: 'Ian Beck's prose has a crisp and springy rhythm. His illustrations, gnarled silhouettes, are marvellously complex. If you turn them upside down, they change completely. A volume to treasure.

'a delightful book, and one with a wide potential audience ... a story with a timeless quality and great charm for bedtime reading upwards.'

'a pleasure to hold, read aloud and explore'

'the makings of a modern classic. The book is beautifully produced and the story itself has everything: pace, humour, a likeable hero and just the right amount of excitement to keep you turning the pages.'
