The Lovereading4Kids comment

Violet Mackerel has a big issue to deal in this story; she is facing up to having an operation to have her tonsils taken out. Violet is quite frightened of the operation and is determined to make a perfect recovery afterwards. The story is excellent at capturing a big experience as well as the little things that matter in everyone’s lives.

Synopsis

Violet Mackerel's Remarkable Recovery by Anna Branford, Sam Wilson

This is a new character series for 6-9s featuring the funny, quirky Violet Mackerel - a girl with a mission to think outside the box.

Violet Mackerel has to have her tonsils out; but she will get to eat lots of ice-cream afterwards. She intends to make a very remarkable recovery after hospital and probably even end up singing opera on the radio. Using her Theory of Giving Small Things Violet makes a new friend in the waiting room - but how will she find her again afterwards?

This series reflects the current movement for happiness philosophy - creative, environmentally-aware kids make their own fun - and chaos! Visit our associated website to find more Violet things to make and do! Other series titles include: Violet Mackerel's Brilliant Plot (2012); Violet Mackerel's Natural Habitat (2013). Book 4 will follow in 2013.

Reviews

'Recommended for girls aged five and up who enjoy their books with a hint of quirkiness and a large dollop of imagination.' - Clare Hingston, Bookseller & Publisher
