Julia Eccleshare's comment:
September 2012 Debut of the Month.
With Jupiter in one pocket and a meteorite in the other, both shrunk by him, Tom knows he has a strange power which produces some surprising and dramatic results. How Tom, who already lives in a model village and so is used to small scale things, makes use of his special power is a lively and funny adventure.
STOP PRESS:
Help Fleur Hitchcock write her next book!
Hot Key Books has launched 'Fleur Hitchcock's Story Adventure', a free interactive writing project running between 21 January and 13 May 2013 aimed at children aged 7-11 years, to help author Fleur Hitchcock write the sequel to SHRUNK!, The Sunday Times Children's Book of the Week.
Using a secure site hosted on a Ning community platform, www.thestoryadventure.ning.com will launch on 11 December 2012 when children can pre-register and read Fleur's prologue for the book and put forward ideas for the title. Fleur will then post her first chapter on 21 January 2013 and invite children to answer questions and complete off-screen activities. The best ideas will be incorporated into the following chapter, with a new chapter every Monday until 13 May 2013. The final book is due for publication in January 2014.
The project and associated activities have been devised with the help of primary school teachers to ensure that it fits into the KS2 curriculum. Children who offer outstanding contributions to the project will earn a place on the Star List and have their names included in the book. There will also be an opportunity to win a school visit from the author for the most active school. The book will be available for pre-order on the site, as well as tickets to the book launch party.
Fleur Hitchcock says: 'I spent a lot of time working in schools, and realised that children were bubbling over with great ideas, so many of which never got the chance to come out. When Hot Key proposed the Story Adventure it seemed the perfect way to let children have their say and explore the possibilities of their incredible imaginations. I can't wait to get started.'For more information about the project go to www.thestoryadventure.ning.com

Synopsis
Shrunk! by F. R. HitchcockAfter Tom moves in with his grandmother next to the Bywater-by-Sea Model Village, he makes a wish on a shooting star and gets the curious ability to shrink things. The first thing he shrinks is Jupiter, then some sheep and a boat.
But without Jupiter in place, the Earth is slowly being drawn towards the Sun. With the angry (and miniaturised) school bully yelling from his pocket, Tom has to return Jupiter and save Earth -- all while trying to make friends in his new home.
Debut author F. R. Hitchcock has written a hugely imaginative and quirky story that is good, clean fun.
About The Author
Born in Chobham, by an airfield, and raised outside Winchester on the banks of the river Itchen, Fleur Hitchcock grew up as the youngest child of three. She spent her smallest years reading Tintin and Batman under her brother’s bed, and searching for King Alfred’s treasure in the river. She grew up a little, went away to school near Farnham, studied English in Wales, and, for the next twenty years, sold Applied Art in the city of Bath. When her younger child was seven, she embarked on the Writing for Young People MA at Bath Spa and graduated with a distinction. Now living outside Bath, between parenting and writing, Fleur Hitchcock works with her husband, a toymaker, looks after other people’s gardens and tries to grow vegetables.
