Synopsis

Timmy Failure Now Look What You've Done by Stephan Pastis

The clueless, comically self-confident kid detective returns in a sequel to the New York Times bestselling Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made. When you lose hope, find it. - Timmy Failure. He doesn't like to pull rank. To reveal that he's this guy: Timmy Failure, founder, president and CEO of the greatest detective agency in town, probably the country, perhaps the world. But he is. And he's about to crack the biggest case of his generation: a school competition to find a stolen globe. And win the $500 prize, which will set him up for life. But someone is clearly trying to cheat. Bamboozle. Hoodwink. Con. Defraud. So it's up to Timmy Failure, with the dubious help of Total, his lazy polar bear partner, and his unlikely new ally, eccentric Great Aunt Colander, to find a way to avenge these shenanigans. Defeat this injustice. And obliterate Timmy's arch-nemesis, the WEDGIE, aka the Worldwide Enemy of Da Goodness In Everything. If he can only get his entry form in on time.

This is a hilarious follow-up to the global phenomenon Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made. It features an engaging and hilarious character to rival Wimpy Kid and Big Nate. It comes from the No. 1 New York Times bestselling author of Pearls Before Swine.

About the Author

Stephan Pastis

Stephan Pastis is the creator of Pearls Before Swine, an acclaimed comic strip that appears in more than six hundred newspapers and boasts a devoted following. His 2011 compilation Larry in Wonderland debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list for paperback graphic novels. Timmy Failure was his first novel for young readers. He lives in northern California.

Where did the idea for Timmy Failure originate?
I wanted to create a character with a big blind spot. And Timmy’s is enormous. He is not
good at anything he does, and yet he thinks he’s the centre of the universe. I like working with characters like that. I think I made him a detective because in kids’ books, the boy detective is always so smart and clever. I wanted to turn that on its head.

Who is your favourite supporting character in the book?
Corrina Corrina. I like the fact that she’s the protagonist’s enemy but that she doesn’t even know that the protagonist is alive. Timmy’s just not a part of her everyday life. On the other hand, he is completely consumed with her.

What’s next for Timmy and Total?
Timmy will continue to try to conquer the universe. And he will fall short. And he will
blame it all on his polar bear.

“Timmy is a detective who cantake any mystery and make it more mysterious.”
