Nicola Smee lives in Tolleshunt D’Arcy, Essex, where she works on her delightful books for children. Nicola's warm and enchanting style has established her as a popular illustrator worldwide. The creation of her many successful picture books was the natural development of inventing stories to entertain her own three naughty boys when they were little!
In 2001 Sleepyhead, one of Nicola's books included in the launch of Macmillan’s Baby Campbell list, was short-listed for The Sainsbury’s Baby Books Award. Nicola has illustrated for children’s TV programmes as well as having many of her own books animated. She has contributed to various magazines and designed book jackets and greetings cards.
Her most recent book for Bloomsbury was Funny Face, which was nominated for the Booktrust Early Years Award 2006 and has already been published in more than six languages.
