Alex Stears is an author, playgroup leader, and stay-at-home Dad who has been living in Hong Kong for over a decade. Originally from the UK, Alex's passion for storytelling and writing was reignited while entertaining his daughters.
When his eldest daughter was around three and a half, she asked him to start telling her stories every night at dinner (but he wasn’t allowed to repeat any). He loved doing this until one day, after having told her hundreds of stories, he realised he had completely run dry.
He couldn’t think of anything. Nothing. Zip. His mind was completely blank.
He didn’t know what to do.
He knew that she would be expecting another story, but he didn’t have any!
This could only end in tears—and who wants a soggy dinner?
That’s when inspiration struck, and Mr. Wiz appeared (a wizard whose spells always go wrong).
That night, he told her his first Mr. Wiz story, and they both fell in love with it.
Alex now has two Mr. Wiz stories published (with a third in the works). He loves having the opportunity to visit schools and bring his characters to life through narrating his books. He also enjoys leading interactive workshops with children, helping to inspire a love of reading and writing.
