Sue Palmer (S.Y. Palmer) writes adventure stories for 7-12 year olds, where ordinary children display extraordinary traits, as they search for answers and chase their dreams. She is passionate about outdoor adventure and loves to throw her characters into perilous situations, such as collapsing cave tunnels, the unrelenting ocean or the vacuum of space. Sue runs KS2 workshops for schools, libraries and bookshops on habitats, space and writing and can often be seen staring up at the stars or scrabbling around the shoreline for shells.

Sue is the author of the May's Moon series and The Shell Secret. Sue Palmer is the winner of the Holyer an Gof Publishers' Awards 2026 – Class 2b: Books for Young Adults with The Shell Secret. Sue Palmer's outstanding achievement was further recognised with the prestigious Gorsedh Kernow Ann Trevenen Jenkin Cup, awarded for excellence in authorship in the Children and Young Adults category (Class 2).
