Amy J. Marin received her undergraduate degree from the University of California Irvine, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Arizona State University. As a graduate student she was a National Science Foundation fellow and was the recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award for excellence in research. Her early research interests included cultural issues related to identity and achievement, as well as women's mental health. However, she always knew that teaching was her passion, and for the past 20 years she has been a full-time faculty member at Phoenix College in the Behavioral Sciences department where she teaches courses in Social Psychology, Human Sexuality, and Introduction to Psychology. She is also the faculty coordinator for the Maricopa Institute for Learning, a position which allows her to mentor faculty research projects related to the scholarship of teaching and learning.
