Claudia Guadalupe Martìnez grew up in the Southwest, dreaming about horses and watching subtitled westerns with her father. She is the author of The Smell of Old Lady Perfume, Pig Park, and Not a Bean. She is also a two-time winner of the Texas Institute of Letters Best Young Adult Book Award, and her work has earned her a Paterson Prize for Books for Young People, an Américas Award Commendation, and a Library Guild Award.
