Sandra Ure Griffin graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1979, majoring in printmaking. She was the recipient of the Don Freeman Memorial Grant-In-Aid award from the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and the Ezra Jack Keats Fellowship Award. Her first book EARTH CIRCLES was published by Walker & Co. in 1989.
