Zoubida Mouhssin was born in Casablanca, Morocco, and moved to Belgium when she was two years old. Both her North African and Belgian cultures are important to her work. The French language is Zoubida's first love, but she is comfortable with other languages and is a translator for English and Spanish. She began writing and telling stories for children when she met Pascale Moutte-Baur and they began collaborating together and created this book. In 2016, they were nominated for the Key Colors Award of the City of Hasselt in Belgium.
