Everyone’s favourite little dragon is back in a new story, once again delivering an important life lesson simply and with real charm. Like many of his young fans, Fergal sometimes tells fibs. Mostly, they don’t matter that much, and nobody gets hurt, but when he accidentally breaks a window in Bear’s bakery and the blame lands on Fox, that’s different.

Fergal knows how upset Fox is, and the situation is making him feel awful too, like there’s a heavy weight in his tummy. Fortunately, telling the truth can start to make everything better. Starling presents the moral with a typically light touch, and there’s reassurance throughout in the presence of Fergal’s friends and from the happy ending.

Children will easily identify with little Fergal and learn lots from his behaviour, all of it useful.
