"The main characters learn lessons such as working together to finish all the work, giving up perfectionism, and accepting each other and circumstances when things don’t quite go to plan."
This is a delightful, imaginative children’s story about several friends preparing for Diwali. In a distant solar system, on a planet similar to Earth, live Pasumans. They are animal-like, but have human characteristics and qualities too. There are 5 main characters in this story. The Pulis (Adhvika and Aadi: tiger pasumans), the Gajas (Sumati and Subbu: elephant pasumans) and Jambu Ballu (the bear pasuman).
Preparations are not yet completed and there is still so much to finalize before the celebrations. It is already the day of Diwali! The main characters learn lessons such as working together to finish all the work, giving up perfectionism, and accepting each other and circumstances when things don’t quite go to plan.
They all eventually enjoy a wonderful celebration. The author has an enjoyable, descriptive, chatty writing style and his enjoyment in telling his story is plain to see in his words. The illustrations are beautiful and really add a charming element to this unique story. I also liked the fact the author included an extensive glossary with the book so that readers who are not familiar with all the terminology associated with the festival.
The letter written by Jambu at the back of the book also has a lot of additional interesting information. I’d recommend the book to children from about 8 or 9 years old.
