Julie has been reunited with her long-lost father, who, although retaining some of the old traditions, has also embraced many of the new 'western' approaches to life. Once again Julie - or Miyax, her Eskimo name - feels torn in two. She loves her father but the new way of farming he's adopted means killing wolves. Even Julie's beloved wolf 'family', if necessary.
