There are heroes and then there are the Super Happy Heroes of Matty Long’s Super Happy Magic Forest series. In this new chapter-book adventure – illustrated throughout in full colour – the friends, Hoofius the faun, Blossom the unicorn, fairy Twinkle, gnome Herbert and mushroom Trevor, are on a very special quest.

They’re on their way to Fishopolis to help the merfolk banish a Sea Witch and various evil hangers on. It will mean they have to undergo mersonification, but in fact it’s the help of centaur Hoofius, five times Adventurer of the Year Award winner, that causes them the most problems.

As ever with these adventures, there are laughs on every page, in the story, the illustrations, the characters and their responses to what’s going on. The underwater scenes are a treat – watch out for the shark guards – and this series makes reading a super happy magic experience.
