About

Coyote in Love With a Star Synopsis

Coyote gets lonely in the wide-open spaces of the Potawatomi Reservation in Kansas, so he moves to New York City in search of work and a special friend. There he quickly gets himself a job as Rodent Control Officer at the World Trade Center.

But he is always homesick, so at the end of the day, he escapes the crowds and hurry of the city by going up to the top of the tower to enjoy the quiet night skies. And one night he spots a star more beautiful than all of the others. . . .

Created with the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI), Coyote in Love With a Star is a series of children's books celebrating Native American culture with illustrations and stories by Indian artists and writers. In addition to the tales themselves, each book also offers four pages filled with information and photographs exploring various aspects of Native culture, including a glossary of words in different Indian languages.
