Portfolio Assessment for K-12 Physical Education

Assessment is the collection of evidence about a student's growth in learning. Although this basic meaning remains, the practical definition of assessment has changed dramatically in recent years. Past and current sources of evidence about student learning include individual or group-administered skill tests, multiple-choice tests and standardized achievement tests. These tests help measure a discrete skill or the recall of discrete information but are limited when gathering evidence about the application of these abilities in a "real life" context.
