Homegrown Heroes

Homegrown Heroes Synopsis

A spudder is more than a potato with a face. He's a part of us, our shared history, and our way. Homegrown Heroes: How We Became the Ridgefield Spudders tells the origin story of the Ridgefield School District and its iconic mascot.

From humble beginnings in a lush corner of Washington state, the people of Ridgefield worked together to help build the first schools and turn a silly nickname into a symbol of mutual respect. Within this tale, there is a message to children everywhere: we are stronger when we lift each other up. Read it, share it, and celebrate it.
