Many people are prone to lament the passing away of the Pennsylvania German tongue, but in this year ofour Lord, 1916, it is estimated that there are still three hundred thous and people in Pennsylvania alone who use this language constantly, in addi tion to thousands who have emigrated to other states. It is also estimated that there are two hundred thousand people in his state who can understand Pennsylvania German, but do not use it in their daily life.
