A collection of short stories based on personal experience, funny and often thought provoking. The characters are based on children, teachers and parents that the author has met when a teacher or as a child himself. Some characters appear in each story, particularly Sam Peevis who is that boy known in every classroom for his cheeky naughtiness. Meet Guy, James, Tony, Tracy, Mr Mizen and a boy who never speaks. Ted Mason was a teacher for many years before working in China as an education adviser. He draws on his experiences to describe real situations in a sympathetic and amusing style.

He has also written a book about his work and life in Shanxi, China. The illustrations are water-colours by FeiYue, a Chinese artist and designer in Beijing, reflecting a mix of Chinese and Western styles.
