LoveReading4Kids Says
Each page of this beautifully illustrated book features parents or parent to be, as they record in numbers the time spent preparing for the arrival of baby – two hearts beat, six ‘secret’ kicks are felt, nine magic months pass.
The most important number of all though is ‘one’ – in our one wonderful world, there’s now one ‘you’, and ‘nothing else counts more than you’. All sorts of parents are depicted and families of all shapes and sizes, grandparents, friends and siblings appearing too; and they’re in different places – seaside towns, busy cities we’ll all recognise, warm places far away.
Wherever they are, whoever they are, what these families have in common is that sense of joy, anticipation, and overwhelming love for the new baby, which all parents will recognise. The text is perfect for families to share with little ones and it would make a lovely gift for new parents.

About Frances Stickley
Frances Stickley grew up in Nottingham and Norwich, where she spent much of her time making up poems and dressing up her dog. She is a trained children's literacy specialist and a primary school teacher who is happiest when she is covered in paint or stuck in a book. Frances first realised her love for writing with the poem, 'My Dad's Milkfloat', when she was six.
In 2017, Frances was the winner of the Bloomsbury and National Literacy Trust short story prize. She lives with her family and a big-eared dog called Babbage. When she is not writing, you'll probably find her in a forest playing dragons with her daughters.
