This book is an absolute thrill ride from start to finish. Creepy, hilarious, and impossible to put down, this story blends horror, humour, and heart-pounding action.
This book is an absolute thrill ride from start to finish. When Travis and his best friend Zayd are forced to team up with the ultra-bossy Seline and her ever-loyal minion Danielle for a history project, they expect boredom—not a face-off with a living nightmare.
Their research leads them deep into the woods, straight into the heart of a chilling local legend: Blood-Eyed Mary—a witch said to haunt the forest, hiding out in her cauldron-shaped hut. For centuries, people have vanished without a trace near Mary’s domain, their eyes gouged out and bones left as snacks for the maggots. And the few who claimed to have seen her? They were never seen again.
But as the group starts cracking jokes about how Mary could eat some tacos in the middle of the woods, the legend suddenly becomes all too real. They’re face-to-face with Mary herself... but she’s not at all what they expected.
Creepy, hilarious, and impossible to put down, this story blends horror, humor, and heart-pounding action. Perfect for fans of Goosebumps, Nightbooks, and anyone who loves a spooky adventure with a twist.
The Witch in the Woods is a decidedly creepy book. I would recommend this book to ages 9+ looking to get into the horror genre.
Serial Chillers:The Witch in the Woods is a decidedly creepy book. It juggles horror and mystery well, creating an intriguing book with a fair few plot twists. The main characters were likable and decently complex. There were lots of cliffhangers which kept me interested. It set up well for later books in the series and made me interested to read later releases or earlier books by Jennifer Killick. Some of the story felt quite boring and the final reveal made the whole thing a lot less scary. That being said, I look forward to seeing how the author uses the world as this book felt like a setup for the rest of the series. I would recommend this book to ages 9+ looking to get into the horror genre.
