This is a must-read adventure book. It’s fast paced and it keeps you on your toes as you try and work out what will happen next.
Maisie vs the Himalayas is an amazing adventure book with a slight element of comedy.
It is the second book in the series and after finishing it I immediately asked my parents to get me the first book (Maisie vs Antarctica) which I can’t wait to read.
Maisie seems like an ordinary girl but she has an extraordinary power - stopping time - well for a few seconds before passing out, but it’s better than nothing!
She goes on a work trip to the Himalayas with her Dad “as a punishment” for not keeping her promises.
While there they meet Renata, a strange woman who her Dad doesn’t like. And the adventure through the Himalayas begins.
I would definitely give this book 5 stars.
I’d recommend this book for lovers of adventure books and comedy books.
It’s a must-read book!
A magical book about finding what is important. A really exciting book to read.
I really enjoyed reading more about Maisie. She has great adventures which are exciting and kept me gripped. There is magic and Maisie learns more about her powers and her family.
In this book Maisie goes with her dad to Bhutan for his book about finding buried treasure. There are mountains, caves and baddies to escape from with lots of chances for Maisie to not listen to her dad and use her powers.
I really enjoyed reading more about Maisie and will be looking forward to reading more about her in the future!
I love both the Maisie books, but this one is definitely my favourite.
Maisie discovers more about her mum and her abilities. I really like how Maisie learns more about herself. The storyline is great. She goes exploring a gigantic cave under the mountains with her dad. I think Maisie really enjoys herself. She is so spirited and picks up her new powers super-fast. She breaks her promises quite a lot but for good reasons though. I found it impossible to put down. It is an amazing book. I love it loads. I really like how small the chapters are. I love it.
Jack Jackman has seriously done it again!!! I was hooked from the first page and couldn't stop reading (even when I was supposed to be asleep… oops). Maisie just keeps getting cooler – she can freeze time, poof stuff into existence, AND discover new powers just like that?!! It’s like every chapter brings something even more mind-blowing. Jack’s brain must be full of magic or something.
Jack Jackman has done it again!
He has pulled me through the wonderful pages of this book and has kept my hopes high throughout this opus. I don’t know how he does it, one-minute Maisie can stop time, the next she can make things appear by will as well as the other power and then she knows that she can do lots; one thing for sure, Jack is an incredible story writer.
My favourite sections were the parts that kept you in suspense and kept you waiting for the answer. For example, if they were going to get out of the cave alive without a map and a harness. (Luckily, they have helmets.) I feel like it was right thing to not to let her use her new power because it could have been really dangerous getting things while other people can be using them (sorry, I am sounding like Masie’s dad). Also, the discovery that she could use a new power was amazing but I felt like I knew that already with her mum doing it.
The thing I feel like you could improve on is probably nothing to be honest it's just a perfect book. I couldn't find anything wrong so that just gives you the one of the best books I have read in ages. Jack, I thought you were going to give me something extraordinary like book that you had already written but this was out of my expectations… well done! ?VIRTUAL CLAP!!!!
So that leaves me with the high hope for the next amazing book you next produce! I wonder what it could be called … maybe Maisie versus the Atlantic? Not too sure but I hope you can use my enthusiasm for your imagination.
From your dear reader, Florence.
