Julia Eccleshare's comment:
Best-selling illustrator Tony Ross brings zest to this original mixture of familiar favourites and less well-known stories. In all, he celebrates how the good triumph over the mean-spirited and how kindness outshines trickery while through his entertaining illustrations he adds a vigorous humour making popular stories such as The Musicians of Bremen and Beauty and the Beast particularly entertaining.
The LoveReading Comment:
The perfect companion to My Favourite Nursery Rhymes and My First Nursery Stories, Ross’s third magical collection is guaranteed to enchant. This humorous and imaginative collection of classic fairy tales is ideal for reading aloud to young children and it consists of seven easy-to-read stories with hilariously detailed accompanying illustrations. The fairytales included Beauty and the Beast, Fairy Gifts, Prince Hyacinth and the Dear Little Princess, Rumpelstiltskin, Sweet Porridge, The Hedley Kow and The Musicians of Bremen
'If you want your children to be bright, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be brilliant, read them even more fairy tales.' - Albert Einstein

Reviews
The stories, nimbly retold, follow well-known story lines; what makes this volume appealing is Ross's artistic treatment. . . . Exaggerated characters, full of motion and fun, will hold youngstersattention.

About The Author
Born in 1939 in Wandsworth, South London, Tony never though about a career in art, but says he fell into it after his dream of being a cowboy disintegrated when a letter he wrote to John Wayne was never replied to.
After Liverpool College of Art, Tony became an art director at an Advertising Agency but after a particularly bad day in the office he gave up his job to go into teaching at Manchester Polytechnic.
His first book was published in 1976. As well as his own books he has illustrated books for authors such as Roald Dahl, Paula Danziger and Michael Palin. His series of books written with Jeanne Willis featuring the extra terrestrial teacher, Dr Xargle, has established a huge following of fans.
