Aesop's Fables - Illuminations From Aesop's Fables A Treasury Of Lost Tales
11-year-old actor Eden Giuliano presents a brand new line of exciting children's stories from Icon! Remember the story of the Ant and the Grasshopper? the Fox and the Sour Grapes? The Boy who Cried Wolf? These wonderful tales and hundreds more have been passed down to us over the centuries. The man credited with writing them, Aesop, was an Ancient Greek slave born about 620 B.C. Aesop is known as a fabulist or story teller credited with a number of fables shining glaringly true light on our human foibles now collectively known as Aesop's Fables. Although no writings by him survive, numerous tales credited to him were gathered across the centuries and in many languages in a storytelling tradition that continues to this day. Many of the tales are characterized by animals and inanimate objects that speak, solve problems, and generally have human characteristics. Scattered details of Aesop's life can be found in ancient sources, including Aristotle, Herodotus, and Plutarch. An ancient literary work called The Aesop Romance tells an episodic, probably highly fictional version of his life, including the traditional description of him as a strikingly ugly slave who by his cleverness acquires freedom and becomes an adviser to kings and city-states. A later tradition depicts Aesop as a black Ethiopian. But whatever his history, the fables depict truths about human behavior, our strengths and weakness that have remained true for 2500 years. NOT AVAILABLE IN CANADA An extraordinary storyteller who used cunning foxes, surly dogs, clever mice, fearsome lions, and foolish humans to describe the reality of a harsh world, Aesop created narratives that are appealing, funny, politically astute, and profoundly true. And Aesop's truth—often summed up in the pithy "moral of the story"—retains an awesome power to affect us, reaching us through both our intellects and our hearts

This translation by Vernon Jones includes an introduction by G.K. Chesterton and stories such as The Hare and the Tortoise, The Fox and the Grapes, and The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse.

Vozes: Antonio Carlos Prado Mói (funcionário da estrada de ferro, juiz, Thomas Flanagan); Alecs Lima (inspetor Fix e Andrew Stuart); Ana Paula Frade (vozes diversas); Barros Batista (capitão e maquinista); Di Ramon (cônsul, guia, policial, homem hindu e fiscal); Giuliano Frade (escrivão e Cromarty); Guilherme Lopes (Phileas Fogg); Laura Mayumi (Auda); Marcio Brodt (Passepartout, ferroviário, passageiro agitado e mórmon); Paulo Arcuri (narração); Sony Moreno (Gaultier Ralph, Batulcar, Mudge e John Sullivan).Trilha sonora de Kauê Lemos. A Visit from St. Nicholas: Twas the Night Before Christmas
This poem, also known as “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, tells of the arrival of St. Nicholas on Christmas Eve at the home of the narrator. Brook Forest Voices has filled this classic tale with music and sound effects that will create in the mind of the listener the magic of this special time of year. Clement C. Moore originally claimed authorship, but later the family of Henry Livingston, Jr.—a soldier, landowner, and poet who died in 1828—disputed Moore’s claim and argued that the poem was Livingston’s. Recently, computer aided analysis shows more similarities to Livingston’s poetry than to Moore’s.
