Gina is going to be a skeleton in the school play. She and her grandmother make the costume together. They share what they know about bones as her grandmother paints them on the black costume. Gina admires her costume and the way her bones fit together.
Asa moves in next door to Mario, and the two become best friends. They do everything together. One day, Mario asks Asa to go to the pool. Asa says he's too busy to swim. Both boys are sad not to be together that day. When Mario gets home, Asa tells him he doesn't know how to swim, and that's why he didn't want to go. Mario promises to teach Asa how to swim.
Ida is excited about going to her first sleepover, but is nervous that her friends will think she is strange for needing a night light. Ida worries for days. Finally, she comes up with a solution that will allow her to go to the sleepover without feeling silly.
Serena is off to visit her cousin, Andrea. Serena packs many of her favorite things in her suitcase to remind her of home. When the airline misplaces her suitcase, Serena is sad and worried. With the help of her cousin, Serena is still able to enjoy her visit and finds a special way to thank Andrea when her luggage finally arrives.
Matt and Erik are cousins. Matt lives in the country and Erik lives in the city. When the boys are forced to spend time at each other's homes, they are upset and think that they will not have any fun. Matt and Erik quickly realize that even though they have different interests, they can still be friends and have fun together.
Luis feels that he doesn't fit in his family. He can't find his own space. Luis lives in a cramped apartment with a large, extended family, so he invents his own personal 'space' with a large umbrella. His family enjoys the beautiful design on the umbrella and they agree to share it as a home decoration and also as a special place for Luis.
