Frank and Joe circle a new case in the wilds of Alaska in the twenty-fourth book in the thrilling Hardy Boys Adventures series. Frank and Joe Hardy are excited when their parents' friends, the Adenshaws, invite them to come visit their home in Alaska. The brothers will have the perfect guide to explore the beautiful landscape the area is known for-their hosts' daughter, Kate. During the visit, Kate introduces the Hardys to her beloved peregrine falcon. There's a major falconry competition coming up in the United Arab Emirates, and even though Kate can't compete, she-like so many others in the falconry world-is eagerly looking forward to the event, which has millions riding on it. One California falconer even offered to buy Kate's falcon so he could enter it in the contest. When Kate's peregrine goes missing, it looks like the Californian or someone else may have turned criminal in their ruthless desire to win. Kate is devastated, and the Hardy boys have to figure out if her falcon could have flown off…or if it was stolen. Frank and Joe may not know much about birds of prey, but they do know how to solve a mystery. But can they soar to success?

Ask Aria Morse anything, and she must answer with the truth. Yet she rarely understands the cryptic words she’s compelled to utter. Blessed—or cursed—with the power of an oracle who cannot decipher her own predictions, she does her best to avoid anyone and everyone. But Aria can no longer hide when Jade, one of the few girls at school who ever showed her any kindness, disappears. Any time Aria overhears a question about Jade, she inadvertently reveals something new, a clue or hint as to why Jade vanished. But like stray pieces from different puzzles, her words never present a clear picture. Then there’s Alex, damaged and dangerous, but the first person other than Jade to stand up for her. And Will, who offers a bond that seems impossible for a girl who’s always been alone. Both were involved with Jade. Aria may be the only one who can find out what happened, but the closer she gets to solving the crime, the more she becomes a target. Not everyone wants the truth to come out. “A girl’s unwanted oracular powers mean she can’t make friends or even go out in public, as she cannot stop herself from answering any question she hears…Pauley keeps the pages flipping. She paints a fascinating portrait of Aria, both her insecurities and eventually her courage. By giving readers occasional glimpses into the mind of the killer, she raises the stakes for Aria. A well-written character study and thriller all in one.”—Kirkus Reviews

Atlantian Chronicles: Final Prophecy
Atlantian Chronicles: Final Prophecy is an exciting science fiction story about a great civilization inhabiting Earth 65 million years ago. This spellbinding coming of age tale is about Arius of Atlantius, who chronicles the events of his disastrous last two weeks from the unsettled safety of his wrecked light-ship. Since birth Arius has been confused about his role as the future ruler of Atlantis. He soon discovers that an impossible task bestowed upon him and his friends by his father will test his resolve and trigger his ancestral DNA. Can Arius complete the four truths of knowledge? Can he stop the extinction of his world? Don't miss the answers to this chronicle from master storyteller William P. Messier.Independent Review:Dr. Messier spends a good deal of time drawing connections between Arius, his friends and his natural environment: the whales, flowers, Pterosaurs or flying birds and stars are all his brothers or friends. At the beginning of the story he has the heart of a little boy, eats wafers for strength, longs to be independent, etc. Also, apparently contradictory elements are repeatedly shown as aspects of one unified whole: the jungle is both kind and cruel, feminine and masculine; the sentient guardian is beautiful but deadly; the meat-eating dinosaur is noble but cruel. The novella's premise of unity helps succor Arius in the midst of his great tragedy. For Arius, success and failure are two equal facets of the same existence. They are transitory forms which capriciously arrive and depart without affecting the underlying unity between himself, his friends and nature. At the end of the story Arius has the heart of a man - As long as he focuses on this unity and sees himself as part of his friends and nature rather than as an external antagonist competing with it, he cannot be defeated by whatever misfortunes befall him.
