Books By Dr Mandy Hartley - Author

Mandy has a PhD in genetics and worked with DNA for over 15 years. She has used DNA to help conserve stocks of fish, to help patients with genetic diseases, to solve forensic cases and trace long lost families using relationship testing. She also helped set up the forensic laboratories used by the Norfolk Constabulary.

Mandy now runs workshops to teach primary and secondary school children about DNA. She uses stories to teach difficult concepts such as natural selection, inheritance and evolution to children. She has written a series of “DNA Detective” books (“The DNA Detectives – To Catch a Thief”, “The DNA Detectives – The Smuggler’s Daughter” and “The DNA Detectives – The Stone Age Mystery” which as well as an exciting plot teach children about DNA, cells, inheritance and forensic science. The books cover many topics in the curriculum for science and literacy and have been written to inspire children with a love of science and reading.

Mandy regularly writes for children’s science magazines and acts as a consultant for children’s science books.
