In the biggest, brownest, muddiest river in Africa,
two crocodiles lay with their heads just above the water.
One of the crocodiles was enormous.
The other was not so big…

And so begins one of Roald Dahl’s most gloriously wicked and laugh-out-loud adventures - The Enormous Crocodile - now snapping its way onto the stage at the Lyric Theatre in a thrilling theatrical adaptation perfect for young audiences and families.

The Enormous Crocodile is VERY hungry. Not for fish. Not for crocodile crunchies. His favourite thing to eat is… children!

Armed with his secret tricks and clever disguises, the crafty crocodile creeps through the jungle plotting his next delicious meal. But the other jungle animals are determined to stop him before SNAP! crunch! munch! - it’s too late.

Packed with mischief, music, puppetry, laughter and plenty of Dahl’s trademark deliciously dark humour, this stage adaptation captures everything we all love about the original story. Expect enormous fun, outrageous characters and lots of audience giggles as the crocodile hatches one terrible plan after another.

Originally published in 1978 and illustrated by Quentin Blake, The Enormous Crocodile remains one of Roald Dahl’s most beloved stories for younger readers - a brilliantly silly tale that has delighted generations with its rhyming language, jungle chaos and wonderfully wicked villain.

For children discovering Roald Dahl for the first time, this is the perfect introduction to his storytelling magic. And for parents who grew up with the book themselves, it’s a joyful chance to revisit a childhood favourite together.

Whether your little ones already know every crunchy line by heart or are meeting the Enormous Crocodile for the very first time, this is a theatrical treat full of energy, imagination and monstrous fun.

But beware…

The Enormous Crocodile is clever.
The Enormous Crocodile is tricky.
And the Enormous Crocodile is VERY hungry indeed…
