At LoveReading4Kids, we believe that reading for pleasure changes lives - and that no single organisation can do this work alone.

Our Literacy Partners are the charities, organisations and initiatives working across the UK to help children discover the joy, confidence and opportunity that reading brings. Together, we form a connected network supporting families, schools and communities to nurture the next generation of readers.

We are delighted to welcome Chapter One, a UK literacy charity working towards a world where all children have the literacy skills to thrive in life. They nurture reading skills and confidence, and inspire a love of reading in children who might otherwise fall through the cracks and miss out on everything that reading provides.

Through Chapter One's flagship Online Reading Volunteers Programme, they close the reading gap by connecting trained corporate volunteers with 5- to 8-year-old children facing disadvantage who need support with their reading confidence and enjoyment. The programme blends technology with human connection - volunteers build sustained, one-to-one relationships through weekly 30-minute online sessions across 13 UK regions throughout the academic year.

Alongside this, Chapter One delivers an Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) Programme which provides daily, one-to-one, 7-minute phonics sessions for children who are not on track with whole class phonics teaching and Book Clubs that foster reading for pleasure with older reluctant readers in years 4 and 5.

2026 is the National Year of Reading, and Chapter One is stepping up. As a lead delivery partner, they're making an ambitious public commitment: to recruit an additional 1,000 online reading volunteers in 2026 to transform children's literacy.

Last year, their Online Reading Volunteers Programme supported 3,000 children across the UK. This year, they're growing their impact by a third. That's significant, and they can't do it alone. So they're asking the business community directly: how will you meet the moment with us?

Recognising that different businesses have different capacities, they've created two clear pathways for support - organisations can choose one or do both. Read more here.

One Million Stories by 2030

For World Book Day in March Chapter One will launch their ‘One Million Stories by 2030’ campaign. Setting the counter at where we are in March 2026 (starting from when they launched in 2018) they'll track progress monthly. They invite corporate partners to get involved and to have their own stories read targets and trackers.

Volunteer numbers outstripped by demand

Chapter One are one of four reading charities warning that volunteer supply is failing to match demand in schools.
