Together, we form a connected network supporting families, schools and communities to nurture the next generation of readers.
We are delighted to welcome the EmpathyLab which activates and celebrates the power of stories to increase real life empathy. Their mission is to raise empathy-educated generations, inspired to create a better world for everyone. They want every child to benefit from a powerful reading-based empathy education.
Empathy is learnable, and their approach turns current psychology evidence into everyday practice for teachers, librarians and caregivers. Championing diverse, contemporary stories EmpathyLab sparks creativity and conversation to actively develop social and emotional learning and inspire positive social action.
Stories create connection, helping to understand ourselves, others and the world. EmpathyLab's approach boosts individual wellbeing, strengthens communities, and recent research has shown it also improves reading ability and engagement - vital for future life chances.
Their core mission is to raise empathy-educated generations, inspired to create a better world for everyone. They support children and young people of all ages from 3-16 – in addition to schools, libraries and families.
Empathy Day Festival –
This year the Empathy Day Festival will take place 4-11 June 2026. A free, week-long festival for schools, libraries, bookshops and families, featuring a world-class line-up of authors and illustrators activities include empathy-building creative activities, daily digital content, live and online author & illustrator events, which bring communities together.
