Longlisted for the UKLA 2018 Book Award
Perfect for the end of every day, award-winning Chris Haughton captures the soothing time as the sun goes down and all the animals begin to fall into a deep sleep….All except Little Bear who is wide awake despite the yawning and sighing of all those around him. When even Little Bear stretches a great big stretch and yawns a great big yawn it really is goodnight for everyone. ~ Julia Eccleshare
From the multi award-winning picture book maker of A Bit Lost, Oh No, George! and Shh! We Have a Plan, comes the ultimate bedtime book.
A richly coloured, hypnotic ode to sleep; this perfect starlit bedtime book will have parents yawning dangerously alongside their offspring Guardian In this stunningly illustrated bedtime book, perfect for the end of the day, a series of exquisitely coloured cut pages of increasing size introduce woodland families - bears, deer, rabbits and teeny, tiny mice - who are all beginning to feel really ... rather ... tired ... YAWN! Dear me, says Great Big Bear, it must be time for bed! But Little Bear is certainly not sleepy - he's wide awake! (For now...)
With sublime, starry night time scenes and an infectious yawny Good night refrain, Chris Haughton creates a lulling bedtime read, perfect for parents and children to share together.
Kids love to read and share books so in addition to the review by one of the Lovereading4kids editorial experts some of our Lovereading4kids parent/toddler Reader Review Panel members were also lucky enough to read and review this title. You can read their full reviews by clicking here.
Cut pages are cleverly used to take the reader on a journey through the woods, while repetitive, sleepy actions and a well-paced text make this a pleasure to read aloud. The Bookseller
