LoveReading4Kids Says
Every child knows what it’s like to be afraid of the dark, so they’ll completely understand how Tiny T. Rex and his friend Pointy the Stegosaurus feel getting ready for their first ever outdoor sleepover. There’s a gorgeous mix of excitement and nerves but the two friends realise just how brave they can be together, and that if you look hard enough, you’ll always find the light even in the darkest dark. The story is charming but conveys an important message too and Tiny is a real character as he faces up to his fears. A lovely book for and about sharing.

A letter from the author, Jonathan Stutzman;
Before I dive into Tiny T. Rex’s new adventure, I want to express how grateful I am for all you do to promote books and encourage reading. The love and support you’ve given Tiny T. Rex and the Impossible Hug since its release has been amazing. I’ve seen its impact on so many children I’ve met, and through the art and emails they’ve sent me. Thank you, truly, for supporting books that empower and bring hope!
Now back to Tiny T. Rex and the Very Dark Dark! In this new adventure, our plucky hero faces one of the great challenges of childhood: fear of the dark. Tiny and Pointy have their first sleepover outside and even though they are self-proclaimed “mighty beasts,” mighty beasts can still feel a little scared without their nighty lights.It’s so easy to be afraid, especially when you’re young.
When I was little and the lights switched off, my imagination switched on. I’d sit in bed peeking out from the covers, conjuring in my mind spooky beasties from shadows and monsters from hat racks. Much like Tiny’s mother, my own mom would remind me that I could still be brave even if I was afraid, and that light (physical and metaphorical) could be found, no matter how dark or scary life seemed to get. She was right. My goal in writing the Tiny T. Rex books has been to show “a tiny dinosaur in a big bad world”—a dinosaur who has agency, despite his diminutive size, and who stands up to his challenges with determination, kindness, and bravery.
My hope is that this new book will be a reminder for every kid who feels like a scared little dinosaur staring into the great dark unknown, that they are braver than they think and if they look hard enough, even in the very darkest of darks, they will find light.
