Jill Bennett was born in Karachi, Pakistan but was educated in England. Following her B. ED. Advanced Diploma in Education (The Role of Language), she has taught at all levels of education from nursery to teacher-training.She started writing in about 1980, at the request of the editor of Thimble Press, about her approach to teaching literacy. Since then she has gone on to compile many books of poetry for children, and has written several books on children and their reading.
