"More icy, immersive adventures with Oswin and friends."
This new adventure for ice apprentice Oswin takes off at top-speed and the action never really cools down. After the drama of book one, he is soon heading back again to Tundra to take up his place at this particular magic school alongside his friends, regal Ennastasia and lowly Maury, and his brother Zylo.
With Grandmaster Yarrow injured, High Watcher Greyheart is in charge, upping the amount of work for the apprentices hugely and adding strict new rules. Oswin is determined to find out why strange things are happening at their school, even if that means breaking into staff offices. With his ‘ghost hand’ still attached, and with his friends at his side, what will he discover?
One of the many pleasures of these stories is the richness of Jacob North’s world-building; readers will absolutely feel they are crunching through the snow and ice with Oswin, and envy him his place at Corridor, even as the homework and pressure mounts. There’s so much going on, you do need to have read the first in the series to properly appreciate this new episode. You’ll be glad you did!
Journey to the very edge of the world in the second title in this INCREDIBLE fantasy adventure series. Perfect for fans of Skandar and Philip Pullman?
Oswin starts a second year in Tundra at the school for Ice Apprentices just as the Great Freeze threatens. He may have driven back the monsters but masters are disappearing and trees with monstrous faces seem to be on the attack. When Oswin fails a test, he's kicked out of the training grounds for good. Tundra is running out of time and soon everyone will freeze to death . . .
