"A magic trick of a picture book"
Prestigious readers are welcomed to this book by Lady Rabbit, kitted out in full magician stage gear, and she promises us real magic! Not the kind that any book can do, like making something appear out of nowhere, but something different. She is going to read our minds. We’re asked to choose an audience member from those we can see seated in the theatre stalls, keeping it secret of course. They’re a quirky bunch, there’s a skeleton, a cloud called Claude, Shroom the mushroom and a fish called Goldie. What follows is definitely magic (or magic trick)! We sent to a different page, depending on which row our audience member is in, only to find they’ve all changed places. We find them again and go to the relevant page again, and relevant figure, and sure enough, each time, Lady Rabbit has identified the character we chose!
Children will love the fun of the magic, and sharing it with friends and family too, while Lady Rabbit and her audience are appealing characters, created in black and white, green and pink only. An afterword explains the 17th century origins of the trick.
