Our love is bigger than any river, reads the text on the opening spread of Fatima Ordinola’s new picture book.
The illustration shows a deer with its fawn in the peaceful setting of a meadow as they drink from the river, woods in the background. The following pages show more animal families, a koala and her joey, a bear and her cub snuffling up berries, a blue whale and her baby, while accompanying lines of text use the images to describe the nature of love between a parent and child: our love protects me on the coldest day, reads the line on a page of penguins and their chicks.
