"A twisty space adventure with an unforgettable cast of characters and exciting thrills at every turn."
Science fiction fans will devour this exciting story of a dangerous quest to save the galaxy. Mackenzie seamlessly balances the deep space setting with a message about the importance of friendship that will resonate with many young readers. This blending of genres makes this a book that will also be enjoyed by those who generally prefer earth-bound adventures.
Each of the characters is a joy (in their own way) to meet. Kol and Sully are excellent main characters, readers will enjoy the world-building that depicts the best friends’ wretched origins as rustheads, seekers of scrap metal and any other treasures that can be found in planet Rust’s huge desert.
Whilst their unexpected mission to save the world brings both hope for a better future and plenty of peril. Readers will undoubtedly also love robot Niyx - her human emotions, especially her exasperation and anger with her evil brother and his nefarious machinations, make her entirely relatable and a joy to read.
With space pirates, evil villains and tested friendships this is an ideal read for young thrill seekers. There is plenty of scope for further adventures and I’m already hoping that this is the start of an exciting new series.
