Francesca Dell'Orto's illustrations in Leru Leru, provide a charming visual feast for the reader. Through her unique approach, Dell'Orto shows that there is more than one way to read a picture book. Pedro is a boy who looks like a girl. His sister, Valeria, is a girl but looks like a boy. They're very different from all the other kids at their school. Despite his sister's protection, Pedro cannot escape being bullied by their friends. Whichever of us has not had this familiar experience of being bullied as a kid?
