This Reading List has been compiled from recommendations made by staff in all of the departments, and they range across both fiction and non-fiction. All books in this list have been carefully chosen to whet your thirst for knowledge. If you read just one of these recommended books every term, you will have read at least 6 truly fantastic books across a broad range of different subjects and themes by the time you end Year 11. Do bear in mind that a book can be read in many different ways, depending on its layout, its purpose, and why you are reading it. For example, some non-fiction books can be dipped in and out of, and you may not have to read them all the way through in page order; a book in a language with which you are not familiar can also be read in snippets, where you try to work out what some things say, without necessarily being able to read the whole book, or you could set yourself a challenge of trying to work out how many of the words in one page are adjectives. There are some which are focused specifically around the curriculum, and others which are more if you enjoy the subject you might want to have a read. We are not expecting you to read all of these books, it is just to guide your reading, and give you some pointers of what you might want to read, as well as helping you with your studies as well. You will find lots of these books within our own library, along with plenty of other great books to read.
